NIPT is a test based on fetal DNA in the mother's placenta. Therefore, this test can be performed on twins, but the sensitivity and specificity will be reduced due to placental mosaicism.

NIPT test is a modern test, based on analyzing fetal DNA in maternal blood. This test has very high sensitivity and accuracy (>99%)

However, NIPT test cannot replace the process of fetal examination by ultrasound.

On the contrary, NIPT test can replace double test/triple test due to higher specificity
